Emek Art Show & Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. In Store Set May 29 6-8 pm
Special Solo Stealth Exhibition & Appearance by Emek
In store set by Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
Tuesday May 29th 2007
Award winning poster artist Emek is back at Richard Goodall Gallery for a solo art show. Winner of the prestigious Pollstar poster of the year award 3 years running, the music industries award for all rock and concert posters. Emeks politically charged intricate posters have made him the leader of the new generation of rock poster artist.
Joining Emek at the gallery is Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. The Atlantic recording artist will be performing a unique solo acoustic set and will preview songs off his new record currently being recorded. This will be the only chance to see Get Cape perform in a truly intimate setting. Emeks posters provide the background and surrounding for Get Capes politically charged songs.
Emek and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. is a combination that was destined to happen. Both are highly motivated and vocal about change in the world, both delivering a strong social message in their art, be it in the form of ink on paper or words in a song.
The Emek art show will provide a rare opportunity to see old long sold out and unavailable posters and original drawings, along with variants from emeks own personal collection. There will also be a number of Emek original paintings available.
Emeks posters are the most sought after in the rock poster world, both by collectors and the bands they are produced for. They regularly sell out in minutes and fetch hundreds of pounds on the second market.
Emek has been designing rock posters for over a decade and is the artist of choice for the leading bands. He has designed posters for everyone from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flaming Lips, Radiohead, The Verve, Tool, Nick Cave, Death Cab For Cutie, PJ Harvey, Pearl Jam, Willie Nelson, Paul Simon, Queens of The Stone Age, and George Lucas.
In Emeks posters, psychedelic 60s imagery collides with 90s post-industrial iconography. To this collision of the organic vs. the mechanical worlds he adds humour, social commentary and fantasy. Even in the smallest details there are messages. All of Emeks artwork is originally hand-drawn and then hand- silk screened for each actual concert or event, usually in limited editions of under 300.
Emek and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. will be at The Richard Goodall Gallery on May 29th 6-8pm.
