About Emek
Originally born in Israel in 1970, he lived on a kibbutz before moving to LA. Encouraged by his parents he cultivated his artistic tendencies from a young age. This eventually saw him complete his studies in art at the University of Northridge in California. His parents’ bohemian lifestyle and political activism influenced Emek to adopt socio-political themes and an allusive psychedelic style within his work. It is then very fitting that his first commission was a poster for a unity rally and concert on Martin Luther King Day. The beginnings of a fruitful poster-making career were found in the 1990’s where he created posters for bands and artists such as Pearl Jam, Radiohead and Marylyn Manson. Now hailed as the reviver of rock ‘n’ Roll art scene he works from his studio in Portland, USA. In 2010 he launched his long awaited book aptly named EMEK: The Thinking Man's Poster Artist: Collected Works of Aaarght, a 300-page retrospective of his work.
