March 2008 will see the Richard Goodall Gallery: Underground play host to American artist Kendra Binney, with the UK exclusive showing of a collection of her brand new paintings.

See a preview of the Kendra Binney Work Here

Binney was raised in the small mountain town of Lakeside, Arizona. Throughout her childhood she became fascinated with nature; spending her days searching for all things minuscule hiding in the grass. This relationship to the small, obscure and unnoticed has informed her adult creative career. Her paintings reveal a world of dripping landscapes, memories, remorse and unspoken thoughts. The work is captivating and magical, drawing the viewer to the melancholic emotion of the big, deep-eyed characters in her imaginary world. An ethereal quality resonates from the dripping muted pastel backdrops. The combination of the two creates a vision of a fragile reality and vulnerability, which is both powerful and beautiful. Binney’s fantasy world is paradoxical ‘at once gentle and cruel, sweet and unsettling’.

This talented artist works in pastel washes, mounted on thick birch, which is then coated in shiny resin. Her unique, small productions are often filled with multi textural embeddings of organic materials.

Gallery Curator Richard Goodall speaks highly of the artist, ‘Kendra Binney is an exceptional talent; her works cannot fail to capture the imagination of all who come across the hauntingly beautiful creations’. ‘Previous works by Binney at the Richard Goodall Gallery have sold out and demand is soaring for pieces by this formerly undiscovered artist’.

Binney currently lives in Portland, Oregon, where she spends her time painting in her small studio, still pondering all things small and unnoticed.

All pieces exhibited in the collection will be available to buy from the gallery or online at www.richardgoodallgallery.com
