(SITTIN' ON) THE DOCK OF THE BAY written by Steve Cropper and Otis Redding, was recorded by Otis Redding for Volt Records just one week before his death in 1968. It reached the # 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and held that position for four consecutive weeks earning a Gold Record. That same year, it won a Grammy Award for Best Rhythm & Blues Song and for Best R&B Vocal Performance. It ranks # 6 on the BMI Top 100 Songs and has reached over seven million broadcast performances. In 1982, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson covered the song and received a Grammy Nomination for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group. Michael Bolton's version of the song in 1988 reached # 11 on the charts. The original of this piece was authentically handwritten and illustrated by Steve Cropper. Graham Nash's fine art printing company, Nash Editions, printed the piece in an edition of 1000. Nash Editions “Manuscript Originals” blind stamp in lower corner.
